Best way to pack ice skates?

how should i pack my skates in my suit case to insure a safe destination? i want to make sure my ice skates don%26#039;t get damaged. i know to put the guards on, but what else?

thanks

Best way to pack ice skates?
When I pack my skates in my checked luggage, I put the guards on, then put the soakers on over the guards (mine are stretchy enough to do this) for extra padding. Then I pack them within my clothing - I surround the skates, on all sides, with clothing, so the clothes act as padding. And that%26#039;s it.
Reply:I would suggest making sure that your skates are dry and putting your hard guards on (make sure to replace the soakers after you get to your destination) I would also suggest getting skate bags for your skates so that they won%26#039;t scratch each other in travel, and I would suggest packing clothes around the skates. Good luck!
Reply:I would probably leave my soakers on, but I would get skate bags for them. Usually skate shops have them near the soakers and you can get them to match your soakers and in all sorts of colors/patterns. They%26#039;re made out of the same materials as soakers, are a great size for skates and usually have a draw string to close them. Each skate goes in it%26#039;s own bag, so they%26#039;re not rubbing on each other causing scratches or on anything else in your bag.

I would call the airline to verify, but if they allow you to, I would pack my skates in my carry-on bag.....or maybe gate-side check them if you can. Security has changed a lot since 09/11/01. As an %26quot;airline brat,%26quot; I traveled enough to not have my bag always follow me when I check it. When I fly, I try to pack so that I don%26#039;t have to check anything.....too many years living with a flight attendant mom! :) In the past, if I traveled with my skates, I took them on the plane with me. We all know how expensive skates are, so if they%26#039;ll let you, maybe keep them as close to you as possible. If your bag doesn%26#039;t make it to your destination at the same time you do, at least your skates will -- which your skates may be worth more than your whole suitcase combined! :)
Reply:My suitcase comes with two straps in it so I Can securely strap them each in. But if you don%26#039;t have that maybe consider purchasing on of these skate bags:

I hope this helps, good luck!!
Reply:i just put my skates in my backpack %26amp; they are fine. they are pretty. i just put the soakers on %26amp; lay them in there. i dont do anything hardcore while im wearing my backpack so they%26#039;ve never got scratched or anything
Reply:That would work.

Reply:I buy my daughter%26#039;s skates on EBAY. They usually have good deals on good skates. Have Fun!!!
Reply:A sporting goods store will sell them.

These are my two favorite sites.

Ebay is also a great source.
Reply:Go to your local pro shop to get skates. I wouldn%26#039;t suggest going to websites because of sizing issues with skates; every brand and every type run slightly different size wise, and nothing is worse than having the wrong size of skate.
Reply:I%26#039;ve had 3 pairs of skates off Ebay, and so has the rest of my family. There are always good deals to be found any time of the year, so keep an eye out on what they have. Also, Amazon.com/ uk have some good skates for sale but they are generally much more expensive.
Reply:Try going to skatersparadise.com that is where i got my skates and the are really nice. And guess what the were affordable!
Reply:don%26#039;t laugh but the thrift stores and shops in your area probably sell used ice skates i found my size used for $3.00 no joke...
Reply:If you don%26#039;t know where to get skates, i suggest you stay off the ice or rent skates first
Reply:hockeymonkey.com if you want hockey skates, or just google ice skates

Does anybody know how much ice skates cost?

im taking ice skating classes and i just want to know hom much ice skates cost.

Does anybody know how much ice skates cost?
Ask at your local pro shop - prices vary. If they%26#039;re your first pair, just buy them from the pro shop. Once you add in sizing, adjustments, and sharpening, it%26#039;s the SAME PRICE as buying over the internet and they fit much better.

Most pro shops stock good beginner skate sets for $70-100. If you%26#039;re tall or heavy, get the better skate. The cheaper skates won%26#039;t provide adequate support and you%26#039;ll end up buying a better pair of skates or quitting the sport out of frustration.

Good figure skate sets cost $150-$250, depending on the blade. These are stock boot-and-blade combinations.

Advanced figure skates cost $300-500. (You buy the blade separately.)

Custom figure skates cost $600 or more. Part of that cost is also the blade, which is purchased separately.
Reply:$600.00
Reply:nope
Reply:$100.00
Reply:ice skates have a large range of costs. it really depends on what level that you are in. skates can cost anywhere from $100 to over a thousand dollas. my advice to you is not to but the cheapest pair either because if you do that then they wont be a very good qualitly.
Reply:if you aren%26#039;t doing jumps yet (or not more than a bunny hop or ballet jump), you should get a good pair of beginning skates, usually around $50-$150. buy them from a skate shop and not off the Internet. Some good brands are Jackson, Riedell, and SP Teri.

hope this helps and good luck!
Reply:A decent pair of beginner skates costs about $100. You can see if there are other skates at the rink selling their old skates (because they%26#039;ve grown out of them or they are too worn out for them, but they should be broken in enough for a beginning skater, but not too broken down)...they usually cost a little less. I paid about $550 for my last pair of skates, and you can really spend as much money as you would like on skates...they are expensive. I would suggest a pair of Riedell Red or Blue Ribbon for the beginning skater or a pair of Jackson Classique skates. I would talk to your local pro shop about getting a pair of skates.
Reply:Don%26#039;t buy the cheapest pair you can. You will regret that decision. Go with a brand name, entry level model. For hockey skates, I got a pair of Bauers for about $100. I don%26#039;t know about figure skates.

But don%26#039;t buy from anywhere but a skate shop for your first purchase. You won%26#039;t go wrong. Expect between 100 to maybe 150 dollars.
Reply:I%26#039;m sure the people at the skate shop will be happy to assist you by recommending skates to you based on your skating level and body size.

First hand skates can cost up to $1000 if it%26#039;s a high-end pair. And since you need to attach blades to the boots, the blades may cost you another $500 to $700.

If you have a budget constrain, you can ask the skate shop if they carry any second hand skates that you can try. I bought my pair (a pair of second hand RF2 Supers + Club 99 blades) at $60.
Reply:There%26#039;s a reasonable site here, that I purchased from. Upwards of $60.

Otherwise, go around some sports stores and try them on for size, before buying. If you%26#039;re sure that you%26#039;re gonna stick with it, pay more than the bottom prices!!
Reply:well it depends on what kind of ice skates you need. but they can range from $60.00 to $600.00 600 is very high level in competing
Reply:It depends on what kind you want, what you want to do with them, and how much you weigh/how tall you are. If you%26#039;re taking beginning classes, and you think you want to continue past that, then don%26#039;t go to a sports store. Instead, go to your rink%26#039;s pro shop or to a store that specializes in fitting skates.

The skate fitter will probably recommend a pair of skates with blades that may cost somewhere between $60 and $300. Just make sure the boots are leather - not plastic and not the kind that look like sneakers. And the bigger you are, the stronger boot you will need, and the more it will cost.

Also, keep in mind that if you continue, you will need to upgrade the boots and blades. So you may want to start with something that is of good quality and can last you a little while. If you buy the cheapest ones now, you may have to get new ones in a few months.

All the skates on the link listed below are good brands (but don%26#039;t get the Softec if you want to do more than just skate around in circles). Riedell and Jackson are known for making good beginner%26#039;s skates.
Reply:I%26#039;m not sure about the average price, but mine are $150 and pretty good (then again I don%26#039;t have anything to compare them to, so I wouldn%26#039;t know).
Reply:I believe there around like $40 to more then $400+

My friend has like $450 hockey skates.
Reply:Don%26#039;t go cheap buy nioce ones that hvave a little growing room And if you don%26#039;t want to spend to much then you should buy in the 110 to 250 range

good luck
Reply:for figure skating it really depends! They could cost from 50 bucks anywhere to couple thousands of dollars!!
Reply:Ice skates cost different amounts of money, but anyone that says $600.00 is someone who isn%26#039;t buying skates for a beginner. If you are just starting classes and maybe renting skates you should be able to get a decent pair for about a hundred dollars, make sure to get them properly fitted. Ask around at your club for used skates or about someone who can fit you for new skates. Good luck with the skates and your skating!!

Used leather ice skates are scuffed up! what do i do?

I have recently bought a pair of used leather ice skates for my sister and they are scuffed up! I was wondering how I could fix the scratches and scuff marks? What should I use or do?

Used leather ice skates are scuffed up! what do i do?
You can remove most of the scuff marks with nail polish remover. Just pour some onto a cloth and rub away. Just make sure you do this in a well ventilated room. After that you can use some white skate polish to make them look like new - don%26#039;t forget to remove the laces and get the tongue. As for the scratches, there isn%26#039;t much you can do about those.
Reply:Whoever manufactured the boot probably sells boot polish that you can buy online or at a skate shop. If you aren%26#039;t sure about who the manufacturer is, you can buy Ridell%26#039;s boot polish. I%26#039;m not sure if you can purchase products directly from the Ridell website. Try googling Rainbo sports. You can probably buy it from them. They sell other boot restoration products too.
Reply:go rollerskating
Reply:ok well to make the skates look nicer and newer you can buy this stuff called skate polish and you can buy that from the internet.

here is a list of websites which sell skating accessories http://www.frogsonice.com/skateweb/busin...

also for the scuffs you can buy skate tape which is a white tape which you stick over the scuffs. you can barely see it and alot of skaters use it, i use it for my skates.

hope i helped =D xox
Reply:You can use skate polish or tape the skates with tape so hide the scuffs. Go to www.skatebuys.com www.reidell.com and www.harlick.com to see different tapes/polishes that you can buy.
Reply:There isn%26#039;t much you can do for the scratches. As for the scuff marks you could use a leather cleaner or white polish. Just read the instructions carefully.
Reply:the best way is to put some shoe white stuff on it to cover up the bad marks or you could try cleaning it with toothpaste, nail polish remover, or cleaning products but those don%26#039;t always work so shoe whiting solution is the next step.
Reply:Well, I%26#039;ve heard that you need to use skate polish. Or you could just wear skate covers to cover it up.

Also, after you get the scuffs off with polish, you can wear boot covers to prevent scuffs from happening again.

Cleaning white ice skates??

Heyy.

I picked up a pair of white ice skates for free at an area where you can trade things you don%26#039;t need anymore for things those people have dropped off. They fit me PERFECTLY and were the white ones I%26#039;ve always dreamed of! They have some stains and smudges on them. I%26#039;ve dried Lysol Disinfecting Wipes and a Tide On the Go Stick, but not much luck. Does anyone know how to get these smudges out effectively using something around the house or something that%26#039;s not really expensive?

Thanks alot in advance!!!

Cleaning white ice skates??
put white duct tape all over them
Reply:haha by white shoe polish
Reply:Mr clean. I cant think of the name of the things but they are little white sponges from mr clean. They get all kinds of smudges off. Also to really spiff them up, get white shoe polish with an applicator and do that.

What riedell ice skates do you refer the cheapes but best quallity?

my ice skates dont fit anymore and i decided to but another pair but with a diff model... what can you refer to me... budget it $100-150

What riedell ice skates do you refer the cheapes but best quallity?
When I was in the basics program I think I started with the blue ribbon series. I upgraded when I got to Freestyle 1 since I needed more support now that I was starting to jump and spin. I believe they are in the price range you mentioned.

I am in Freestyle 2 now and I am currently using Riedell bronze star boots and an MK Coronation Ace blade.

Reply:If you can afford the star series, go for it. The absolute minimum would be the Blue Ribbons, but it does depend on your level. Check this chart:
